"Just living is not enough", said the butterfly, "one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower."
— Hans Christian Andersen.

no more fairytales.

Caricatures of happy faces
to fill those empty spaces.
A desperate search of happiness
seems nothing like a deadly curse.

How did the ugly duckling become a beautiful swan?
What if the ugly duckling never became a beautiful swan?

Was the ugly duckling going to be ridiculed for life?

People always say that it is the mindset that shapes the end results.
Having a positive mindset is half the battle won.

But what about those people who always believed in that, but can never achieve something like that?

What if an ugly duckling grew up believing that it would turn into a beautiful swan, only to realise that it could never be a beautiful swan.
Imagine all the optimism which was injected into the ugly duckling based on the words of 'encouragement' of people around it. (Or in this case, ducks not people)

An ugly duckling who believed that it could become a beautiful swan had the mindset that its optimism had won half the battle.
When it eventually found out that the battle was lost, what would happen to its self-esteem?
Would the ugly duckling dare to dream about being beautiful again?

Most of the time, people encourage their peers to do something, providing the optimism. However, what if it wasn't for the best.
It would be easy for you to tell someone, "at least you tried". But if you were that person, would that little statement even matter? Would it even make you feel the least bit better?

Sometimes, people fail to understand that incorporating an idea into someone could work as a ticking time bomb. All the encouragement only triggers the timer and increase the excitement of the countdown.

And when the person least expects it, the bomb explodes.

The greater the expectations, the greater the disappointment.

Cliche.

Perhaps we should keep silent and hold back our compliments? Or maybe we should continue to build the dreams for others in their head?
