"Herb is the healing of a nation, alcohol is the destruction."

She would kill to close her eyes for just one minute
and fall into a deep slumber -
one which she would forget all her worries
one which she would forget what she was holding on so tightly for
one which she could just let go and run
one which she could just run, run away
one which she could just run and never feel tired
one which she could just be free.

--------

She closed her eyes for just one second,
and wakes up the next
shaken
afraid.

Just one second of sleep
and the terrors began
vindictive
addictive.

----

She closed her eyes for half a second,
and she opens her eyes.
She's wide awake,
she's not dreaming.

Her feet grazes the soft patches of grass.
Was it her imagination, or were there wild flowers?
Lalang.
That's what they were.

She walks on, feels the breeze on her face,
feels the flowers gracefully dancing around her calves.

This could last forever.
She closed her eyes, enjoying the moment.

----

She closed her eyes for half a second,
and she opens her eyes.
She's taken aback,
she's confused.

Her skin feels the heat of the air around her.
Was it just her, or was this some sort of dessert?
Lost.
She was stranded, alone, lost.

She walks on, feels the heat on her sole,
feels like she wants to run, run till she could find shade.

This felt like forever.
She closed her eyes, begging for it to stop.

----

She closed her eyes for half a second,
and she opens her eyes.
She's calm.
She's conditioned.

Her eyes fills up with tears.
Was it just her, or has she started to lose hope?
Fear.
She was afraid, yet giving up.

She walks on, feels purposeless,
feels like she could get a better grip of herself.

This couldn't be forever.
She closed her eyes, praying for it to go away.

----

She closed her eyes for half a second,
and she opens her eyes.
She's safe.
She's protected.

Her hand holds another.
Was it just her, or was that hand sweaty?
Nervous.
She was slightly anxious, yet secure.

She lay still, feels warm on the inside,
feels like she wouldn't want to walk on.

This could last forever.
She closed her eyes, finally getting woozy.

----

She closed her eyes for just one second,
and wakes up the next
safe
sound.

Just one second of sleep
and it felt like any other day
snug.
perfect.

--------

She would kill to close her eyes for just one minute
and fall into a deep slumber -
one which she would forget all her worries
one which she would forget about everything around her
one which she could forget everyone underestimating her
one which she could forget why she couldn't fall asleep in the first place
one which she could just run from people who would never understand
one which she could just be free.
