"Just living is not enough", said the butterfly, "one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower."
— Hans Christian Andersen.

so you think you can tell.

"I've been here before and will come again,
but I'm not going this trip though."

The little kitty cat reached into the jar,
trying to grab a fistful of candies.

Let me see what my puny paws could possibly hold.

On one paw, it was a low self-esteem;
inflicted from childhood trauma of mother cat
being over-protective of the little adventures that
the little kitty cat wanted to explore.

On the other paw, it was the curiosity;
the leap of faith that the little kitty cat wanted to take
and that huge jump the little kitty cat
was all ready to make on its own.

Let me see how far I could possibly go till I can't take it any longer.

On one paw, it was fear;
afraid of being unable to take it
and falling into a downward spiral,
a depression into the ground.

On the other paw, it was strength;
it was underestimation, blatantly,
while the little kitty cat was equipped
with a ready mentality.

Let me see how far I could last with these candy.

The little kitty cat wanted to go all the way,
to finish it all
to prove its worth
to reach the limit.

Let me see what I can see with this new perspective, this new limit.

The kitty cat was no longer little.

heaven from hell,
blue skies from pain.
can you tell a green field
from a cold steel rail?
a smile from a veil?
do you think you can tell?
